Welcome to This Is Me Thriving!

Why the focus on thriving?

This blog was actually inspired by the pandemic—weird, I know. It felt like I was minding my own business, hanging out with friends, climbing the corporate ladder, and making plans for the future, when all of the sudden BAM! COVID-19 hit and everyone went home and stayed there. Now I know that it was a lot more serious and complicated than that, but let’s stay lighthearted for now.

At first, I really enjoyed quarantine. Being an introvert, it meant that I now had a good excuse not to see people. My commute was cut down dramatically. Plus, I could now wear my lululemons to work instead of a suit. But one month turned into two, turned into ten, etc. and day after day working from home without any big events to look back on or look forward to resulted in me feeling blah. It’s hard to explain. It’s like my life was a flat line that wasn’t really going anywhere. And one day, I had enough of that.

Even if we couldn’t go back to “normal life” or “precedented times,” I didn’t have to let my life pass me by. So I worked on changing my mindset, setting healthy boundaries, and living with intention. It’s a work in progress, but it’s so much better. I’m getting to thriving.

Who are you and why is your information useful?

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m TK, an enneagram 1 (seriously, I resonate with this so much), tea lover, avid reader, young professional, trying to figure out this whole life thing and live each day intentionally. As stated above, I write about real life experiences and trying to balance the hectic demands of life, a full time job, trying to maintain relationships, and stay healthy. How do try to balance this? Well, it’s all made possible through mindful productivity, planning, and self care.

I absolutely love planning and getting organized. While I know it may take a little longer to get my thoughts together instead of jumping right on in, if I’m organized with a plan and my planner, I really do feel like I can take on anything and am prepared to face the world!

I’m also all about that self care life. Especially with the world we now live in, it’s so important to treat yo’ self and find some balance. So, whether it’s setting healthy boundaries, having a glass (or heck, a bottle, because life is hard and you do you, boo) of wine, or doing a sheet mask (and seriously anything in between)— I am here for it!

So, welcome to my corner of the internet. Let’s do this!
